M.V.P.'s on Monday mornings

Monday mornings are always a love-hate relationship with me.  I love Monday mornings because they are a fresh start to a new work week and a chance to start preparing for the coming week.  Of course the part I dislike about Monday mornings is the tiredness that follows a busy Sunday.

However the thing that has really struck me this Monday morning is the number of M.V.P.'s (most valuable players) that may have gone unrecognized yesterday in the busyness of things.  Here are a few examples of people 'making it happen' on Sunday mornings which you may not have been aware of.  I'm not even going to mention their names but they know who they are, and you may too.

  • Before anyone arrived, our welcome desk volunteer showed up at least 30 minutes early and it was a good thing.  She did a last minute shuffle with computer set-ups, realized the database needed adjusting, created name tags and putting up directional signs in order to best serve our families and guests prior to arrival.
  • We are so blessed to have a professional I.T. person currently volunteering in children's ministries to help with media.  Before Megabite Sunday in Kidz Church he previewed our presentation, adjusted our speaker settings, and even was thoughtful enough to put a bookmark in my Bible so I wouldn't lose my spot before 2nd service.
  • Sunday always has a few surprises. When a volunteer was unable to make it due to a family emergency another person (without having to be asked) simply volunteered to step in and provide what we needed in their absence. A God-sent in that moment!
  • A teenage volunteer unnecessarily took it upon herself to clean up a bathroom mishap in one of the preschool rooms instead of panicking and leaving it for someone else to do.  Now THAT'S commitment!
So there you have it!  The M.V.P.'s at the forefront of my Monday morning brain.  The truth is, those are only a few of you.  There were many more yesterday.   Thank you for embracing the significance of children's ministries and giving your BEST for the kingdom of heaven.
